Dear Friend:

I'm glad your stopped by "The Guide For Model Trains"!

My name is Scott Parat and I've been playing around with model trains for a long time, since I was a kid. So...that means I've been model training for close to 40 years, on and off again and in the process I've picked up a few tips on what's necessary to get started successfully with Life like model trainsmodel train set ups. As a Model Train enthusiast, I'd like to see anyone interested in modeltrains get started correctly and easily so....... I'd like to share my knowledge with you, free of charge.

Please take some time to browse the links on this site for more information about model trainsand model railroads, and you might want to signup for my 11-part "Secrets to Successful Model RailRoading" email course below, where you'll automatically receive one lesson per day in your email box. Here are some of the Course Highlights:

  • Ever been to a Model Railroad Show with those awesome layouts and trains....guess what? In no time, you can have your own train and train track layout.....just like those professional set ups!
  • No need to spend a ton cash to have a nice layout, work with your budget and get a train set up quickly and easily, learning to keep trains and equipment from harm and have a blast doing it!
  • Only one aspect has to be kept right............do this and it's smooth sailing or I should say training :)
  • One thing you need to know before buying any locomotive, get this wrong and the engine will not pull with full power.
  • Plastic wheels or Metal wheels....which is better? Or should I even care?
  • Do I buy generic out of the box track, mountains, other accessories..... or do I custom build everything? Get this right and you'll get much more enjoyment from your model train.
  • The 5 things every model railroader must know in order to create and maintain proper track conditions.
  • Do I have to spend cash on scenery or can I learn how to mold rocks so they look realistic?
  • Model Railroading brings families together....it expands time and most likely will be passed on through your family....it becomes tradition!
  • Let's not think the girls don't participate, it's the 21'st century and women love to get involved in model training! So, get your daughter involved, bring your wife....or find a wife!
  • Scale and Guage...what is it? Learn what they mean and how they apply before going to the hobby store or your first train meet.
  • Where do I set my train up? Do I need "Benchwork"? and, What is Benchwork?
  • Good _________________ is essential for your model train operation!
  • Looking at track: ___________ __________ ___________ _______, but the care and cleaning associated with it tends to be a bit overwhelming sometimes
  • The ________________ also has more than one disadvantage.
  • While ________________ is not quite as good as conductor of electricity as the others, its residual oxide works every bit as well as a conductor.
  • Flexible track brings so many advantages to your model train set up, but do you know the differences in flex track and why one is better?
  • "Grade" adds dimension and excitement to your track layout but an incorrect grade can ruin your engine and trash your layout. A 100 inches of track with a final grade of 4"....is that safe...Yes or No!
  • These numbers are especially crucial when you're limited to a layout size of 4 foot by 8 foot. You definitely don't want to go any steeper than a _________________%.
  • model train email course
  • Kick it up a little with switches, sidings, turnouts and other tricks with a simple oval track....discover how in lesson #10
  • Once started with experimenting setting up different track layouts...space becomes an issue, learn how to make the best use of every nook and cranny and even mid air space you've never though of before!
  • This is just a taste....there's more, so much more!

I Can't Believe How Many Great
Ideas I picked Up Before I
Spent Money On Setting
Up My New Train Layout

"I would like to say how much this newsletter has helped me learn how to prepare for setting up my new model train layout. I'm looking into setting up with LGB Trains and at least I now know how speak to the guys at the hobby store. I'm also looking at buying some of the products online and I can ask questions in an intelligent way.....that way they can't take advantage of a newbie like me. Even with ebay auctions, when checking out different bids I can fire off an email and ask about scale and guage.....making them think I've been working with LGB Train Layouts for my entire life.

Thanks so much for the free email course...you should really start charging for it!
