Lionel G scale should be DC powered.Reversing the polarity to the track will reverse the direction of movement Any 12 volt DC powerpack will work. The power pack has built in features that will reverse polarity. It may have a toggle switch on the front .Change the switch position, and you change directions. Or the speed control dial has a centre off position. Turn it clockwise it goes forward , counterclockwise , reverse. There may be a choice of connections on the back of the power pack . If there are connections marked "track/acc" , use the ones marked "track" Does the train move at all? If it does move , but only in reverse , then switch the wires going to the track .At least it will be going forward

upon further investigation this isn’t what you are looking for . Couldn’t find you manual Sorry
