Model Railroad Scenery using Extruded Foam: Part 10 – HQ

Excellent primer for beginners: tinyurl.com My Web Site: modelrr.oakviewresources.com I ran the source videos through a video enhancer and recompiled them at a higher bit rate. Both the sound and the video are somewhat better(you’ll need to watch them in High Quality mode). This is the part 10 of a multi- part tutorial of doing Model Railroad Scenery using extruded construction foam. More dirt, more grass, so much glue…

  2. Thanks! I’ve been wanting to upgrade these videos for a while. I’m just a little peeved that YouTube won’t let me just replace the old videos. I tried disabling the old ones and within a couple of hours of doing so I got a complaint from someone that they couldn’t get to them any more. I figured I’d better keep the old ones public since a whole bunch of people have bookmarked them.

    Oh well.

  3. cool but you can also use lil’ chunks of greens sponge to get a more real 3D appearance but panting is no bad tho ;)

  4. Love what you did so far…
    Where is part 11?
Or at least the next step?

  5. uuuuhhhhhh…
There is no part 11, at least not yet. I shot these on a digital camera about 5 years without any thought that there would be a site like YouTube where I could post them. There’s other sections of the layout that still need to be carved, painted, and sceneicked. At some point down the line I’ll be shooting more videos that will hopefully fill in some of the informational gaps.

  6. Because of these videos, I’m seriously considering hand carving foam instead of newspaper and plaster for my next layout.

    Thanks,

  11. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! you’re videos have been most helpful in answering the many questions about what type of scenery to work with and this seems the best way to go! When will you add more?

  12. Are these instructions available in a video or DVD format? If so, where?

  13. This series? Yes. I put together a few DVDs of some of my series. Most people are happy with watching them on Youtube but there are some who’d rather watch them in DVD format. You get the same thing that you see here on YouTube except that the picture and audio are better quality. I have them for sale on my web site. You can get to my web site by clicking on the link in the information box on the right hand side of this screen.

  14. If there is a series you’d like to see on DVD and you don’t see it listed I can put one together.

  15. Would you recommend another glue rather than scenic cement?

    Comment by surferdude1115 — June 12, 2009 @ 7:03 pm

  16. You could just use a mix of 50% elmers white glue and 50% water
