Model Railroad Scenery using Extruded Foam: Part 4 – HQ
Excellent primer for beginners: tinyurl.com My Web Site: modelrr.oakviewresources.com I ran the source videos through a video enhancer and recompiled them at a higher bit rate. Both the sound and the video are somewhat better(you’ll need to watch them in High Quality mode). This is part 4 of a multi- part tutorial of doing Model Railroad Scenery using extruded construction foam. Yes you get to see more of a grown man carving pink foam…

When you ask someone at a train show how they did their scenery and they just say “carved foam” and smile, now we see how it can actually be done!
Thanks for posting these!

There was no information on initial cutting and gluing down the foam sheets. Still, this is a very good video and well worth the time.

Yeah, I know. I got the idea to shoot these videos about 6 years ago when I already had everything glued down. I’m glad you found it helpful.

I shot the videos about 6 years ago (before there was a youtube). I got the idea of recording the videos and posting to an N scale forum I was a member of at the time. At that time I was already done with cutting and gluing the foam.

I still can’t decide if I want to use foam on the layout I’m planning. It just seems like there’s a lot of wasted material versus plaster cloth.
