I have the Niagara 4-8-4 and it has pretty good pulling power, a smoker with good sync to the pistons and hooked up to a circa 1970's MRC Dual Loco Controller. Bachmann are good and cheap. The better the locos motor and drive the smoother it works. It worked the same in stopping, just throttle down and wait for it to come to a slow crawling stop. Worked best with ultra smooth stewart hobbies engine.
